In 2011, Dr. Soma Sundar. S completed his MBBS from Annamalai University (Chidambaram) where he gained immense interest in Spine and Orthopaedic Surgery. Following his internship, he joined MIOT Hospital (Chennai)
In 2014, he joined the AJRI (Asian Joint Research Institute) in SIMS Hospital (Vadapalani, Chennai) He pursued his Post Graduate Specialty Degree – Master of Surgery (MS Orthopaedics) in Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute in 2016, which he cleared in the first attempt and was the Topper of the Batch.
Professional
Dr. Soma Sundar S has a deep passion for teaching, which led him to join Saveetha Medical College and Hospital, Chennai, as a Senior Resident in 2019. His dedication and expertise quickly earned him a promotion to Assistant Professor. In 2020, he successfully completed the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Orthopaedics, receiving recognition from the National Board of Medical Education. His contributions to the field were further acknowledged when he was honored with the prestigious MNAMS (Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences).
That same year, he was awarded the renowned Ramaiah – Johnson & Johnson Spine Fellowship, providing him with an opportunity to gain extensive experience in treating complex spine disorders. Through this fellowship, he refined his skills in performing intricate spine surgeries, deepening his expertise in advanced spinal care.
In 2022, Dr. Soma Sundar achieved a significant milestone when the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) conferred upon him the prestigious FRCS (Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow) in Trauma and Orthopaedics—a testament to his surgical excellence and commitment to global standards of spine surgery.
